Taffy Apple Salad

A sweet dessert salad with diced apples, pineapple, and nuts in a creamy taffy-like sauce topped with Cool Whip.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz. crushed pineapple (drain reserve juice)
  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 4c. diced apples (do not peel)
  • 1 c. salted Spanish nuts with skins
  • 8 oz Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and sugar.
  2. Beat egg and add to flour and sugar.
  3. Add pineapple juice and vinegar.
  4. Put in pan and cook on low. Stir until thick. Let cool. (Can be put in refrigerator).
  5. Mix apples, pineapple, and nuts.
  6. Pour cooled sauce over this mixture.
  7. Stir in Cool Whip.
  8. Sprinkle with additional nuts for color.
